About the Atherton Veterinary Clinic

Tableland Veterinary Service started the Atherton clinic in 1977 and this practice has grown from a part time veterinarian to multiple veterinarians. Currently Justine Campbell, Mick Ruppin, Ryan Cockrem, Kim Chainey, Ian Hosie, Yolanda Angel and Kay Eccleshare all provide veterinary care to our Atherton clients.

It is a purpose built facility, having been extensively modified in 1995/96.  It includes a small animal hospital and surgery suite and a purpose built grooming room.

Senior veterinarian, Justine Campbell first went to a calving with Bill Tranter more than 30 years ago and was inspired to become a veterinarian. She started with Tableland Veterinary Service in 2004 and has become of our most admired veterinarians! Mick Ruppin started with Tableland Veterinary Service in 2007 and after a small amount of time away in 2010 and 2011, rejoined us in 2012 and has became the lead veterinarian in Atherton. Kay Eccleshare is a small animal surgeon and provides surgical support to all veterinarians in our practice and assists practices from elsewhere in Far North Queensland, receiving referrals from several other clinics and from within Tableland Veterinary Service. She also lectures in small animal surgery at James Cook University.

A recent addition to the Atherton clinic is a purpose built facility for grooming, which includes a hydrobath and a hydraulic grooming table so that we can now provide all our cats and dogs with a complete grooming service. We have two trained groomers (Rachel and Lynn). This is an exciting development and as far as we are aware, is one of the only such purpose built facilities in Far North Queensland.
