Veterinarians

John Hosie

Graduated from James Cook University in 2010. His special interests are in bovine medicine and reproduction and equine reproduction. He spent his first year at mixed practice in Gympie before returning home to the Atherton Tablelands in 2012. John obtained his pilots license in 2013.

Kimberley Chainey

Graduated from James Cook University in 2012 and has special interests in small animal medicine and ophthalmology. She would like to perform more study in ultrasonography and small animal medicine. In her spare time she rides and likes to spend time in the water or with family or friends.

 

 

Kate Fisk

Kate has returned to North Queensland after working in a mixed practice in NSW. She is excited to be part of the Charters Towers team. Originally from Cairns, Kate graduated from JCU and is passionate about everything equine with special interests in opthalmology and reproduction. She also enjoys treating medicine cases including wildlife and exotic animals. Kate hopes to pursue her acupuncture, ultrasound and opthalmology interests in the future. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, photography, excersing her two Border collies and socialising with family and friends.

Kay Eccleshare

Graduated from the University of Queensland in 1986. She is a great surgeon and lectures at the James Cook University in small animal surgery. She is passionate about education and is a very popular lecturer with all the veterinary students. She has on occasion, performed some excellent equine surgery as well. She is a competitive athlete and currently competes in triathlons regularly.

 

Josh Berryman

Josh has recently commenced work with Charters Towers Veterinary Clinic. He completed his Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 2010 at James Cook University. Josh is interested in all areas of practice, and particularly enjoys extensive cattle practice.

 

Justine Campbell 

Graduated from the University of Queensland in 1998. She has worked in mixed practice in Victoria but came home to work at TVS in 2004, shortly after her son was born. She is a passionate veterinarian, and has a passion for feline medicine, radiology and small animal internal medicine. She is currently an important part of a research trial on an experimental drug for the treatment of cancer in animals. She has a great collection of cats, dogs and a snake! In her spare time she spends time with her son and family.

Yolanda Angel

Graduated from Murdoch University in 2006 and started at Tableland Veterinary Service in early 2007. She has special interests in ultrasound and small animal surgery and has worked extensively with Kay Eccleshare and Justine Campbell in Atherton. She works part time so that she can look after her two small children, her husband, two horses, chooks, cats and dogs!

 

 

Stephanie Williams

Graduated from James Cook University in 2010 with Sam Rowe and John Hosie. She worked in mixed practice in Dalby and then for short period at Townsville Veterinary Clinic, before returning home to Gordonvale to start North Queensland Equine Clinic with TVS. She has grown up with horses and worked in racing stables while at school and then at Townsville Veterinary Clinic as a veterinary nurse while studying at university.

 

Sam Rowe

Sam Rowe joined Tableland Veterinary Service in 2011 after finishing his Bachelor of Veterinary Science at James Cook University. His special interests include dairy cattle medicine & reproduction and small animal internal medicine. He is part way through a Masters program majoring in bovine consultancy with an emphasis on mastitis, reproduction and nutrition. In his spare time he enjoys playing the guitar, piano and drums (not simultaneously though).

 

 

Denise Wilson

Denise graduated from Queensland University in 1980. Since graduation she has interned in small animal surgery at the Melbourne Veterinary School & was a senior tutor in small animal surgery at Queensland University, lecturing in soft tissue surgery. Along the way, Denise obtained a Master in Veterinary Studies, Membership of the Australian & New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists, a husband & 2 daughters. Denise has been a long time member and partner of the Charters Towers Veterinary Service until it was purchased by TVS in 2012. Denise continues to work there 4 days a week with a special interest in small animal surgery & mentoring the recent graduates. Fridays are spent at JCU helping tutor surgery.

 

Outside of work Denise loves her garden and travels as much as possible.

Essie Hamilton

Essie graduated from JCU in December 2013. She is interested in furthering her studies in cattle, disease investigation and reproduction in both small and large animals. In her free time she likes to play OzTag, ride horses and is currently training for a triathlon.

She is excited to have joined our Malanda team in 2014.

 

Jessica Said

Jess is excited to have joined our Charters Towers Clinic in August 2014. She graduated from Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga NSW. She enjoys all apsects of veterinary medicine, but has a particular interest in cattle and horses.
