Dr Wade may be a familiar face for many of our clients in his role as veterinarian within our Atherton clinic. Originally from Far North Queensland, Wade is James Cook University graduate.
Wade has been a part of the veterinary industry for 11 years, seven of which have been with the Tableland Veterinary Service team. Originally aiming for the large animal aspects of working on the Tablelands, Wade found his passion for working with small animals at Atherton. He has honed his interests into surgery with a big interest in small animal orthopaedics.
Outside of work, Wade enjoys spending time with his family and going on camping adventures, hiking and gardening.
Dr Amber Leonard
Veterinarian
Amber is one of our dedicated veterinarians located within our Atherton clinic. Originally from the Sunshine Coast, Amber made the move from city to country to get a change of scenery, ultimately falling in love with the landscape of the Atherton Tablelands. Amber has been in the veterinary industry for 12 years, two of which have been with the TVS team. Amber’s interests at work include small animals and exotics with a particular interest in the medicine aspect of these cases.

Dr Kara Smith
Veterinarian
Originally from Yungaburra, Kara is one of our dedicated veterinarians who was born and bred in Far North Queensland. Kara is a James Cook University graduate from 2016 and has been a part of Tableland Veterinary Service for the past three years. Her interests at work include small animal surgery and medicine as well as a particular interest in honing her ultrasound skills.
Outside of work, you can find Kara enjoying the outdoors whilst camping, kayaking, hiking, travelling as well as the occasional trivia or board game playing.
Dr Kay Eccleshare
Veterinarian
Kay graduated from the University of Queensland in 1986.
She worked as a mixed practitioner for many years but her early passion for surgery has now become her main focus. She has over 30 years of experience and extra training in orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery. She has spent many years lecturing and teaching surgical skills at James Cook University in Townsville.
Kay works part time for TVS, performing more complex surgery for TVS as well as for other referring veterinary practices. She enjoys mentoring younger veterinarians, nurses and visiting students. In her non-work time she enjoys living off the grid on a property with her husband, 3 cats and cattle and enjoys mountain biking and staying fit enough to try and outrun Frank and Tamara in triathlons and mountain bike races.
Dr Keri Rheinberger
Veterinarian
Hailing from the far away land of Warwick in South East Queensland, Keri joined the Tableland Veterinary Service team in 2019. Being a dedicated small animal veterinarian, she graduated from university in 2005 and has a particular interest in small animal ophthalmology.
Outside of work, Keri is very busy with her little family farm with her menagerie of animals and her three kids. She also loves to steal away to visit waterfalls, swimming holes and gardening.
Dr Yolanda Angel
Veterinarian
Yolanda is another familiar face from our Atherton clinic, having been with the Tableland Veterinary Service for almost 18 years. She joins many of her colleagues in having a particular interest in small animal surgery and strives for the utmost patient and client care every time.
Outside of work, Yolanda enjoys oil painting and drawing. You can see some of her amazing work hanging around our Atherton clinic!
Dr Yvette Jevons
Veterinarian
Yvette, also known as Evie, is a local Tablelands girl. She graduated from James Cook University in Townsville in 2016. She has been a member of the team at Tableland Veterinary Service since graduation, working for the first two years at our Charters Towers clinic as a mixed practice veterinarian.
Between working in our Atherton and Edmonton clinics she has maintained a keen interest in small animal surgery and medicine, but it is not odd to find her out of the clinic attending horses.
Away from work Evie enjoys spending time with her fiancé, dogs, cat, bird, chooks and being outside in the garden.
Jodie Austin
Veterinary Nurse RVN
Jodie has been in the veterinary industry for a whopping 40 years! Originally from Cairns, she started as a kennel hand at the wee age of 12, working for Marlin Coast until April 1995 after completing her schooling. She began her career with Tableland Veterinary Service in May 1995. She has an interest in dogs, cats and cows, living by the motto of ‘no good story started with a horse!’
She enjoys the aspects of team support, HR and customer service as well as leadership within the TVS team. Outside of work you can find her enjoying home renovation work as well as spending time with her grandbaby!
Alison Trompf
Client Care Specialist
Alison grew up in Melbourne & after leaving school, worked in the legal industry before moving with her husband & family to Cairns in 2001. Having owned a farm on the Atherton Tablelands since 2004, she & her husband decided to make a “tree change” a couple of years ago to their farm on Lake Tinaroo after their youngest daughter finished school.
A mother to 3 daughters (one of whom is a veterinarian), all now living in Victoria, Alison fills her time helping her husband on the farm breeding stud Shorthorn cattle. When time permits, she also enjoys water skiing, reading and interior design.
Alison started at TVS in 2018 and enjoys the varied role of a receptionist, interacting with clients and staff.
Lana Ruediger
Client Care Specialiast
Lana grew up on a sheep and cattle property in the Barossa Valley, South Australia. When she left school, she worked on the family farm, before coming to the Atherton Tablelands in 2000. She then worked in a plant nursery in Atherton and began working for TVS in 2004, as veterinary nurse and client care specialist.
Lana enjoys family time, motor bikes, hunting, fishing and camping, and her bubbly personality makes her popular with clients and keeps all the staff happy and laughing.
Monika Wilkinson
Client Care Specialist
Monika grew up in the Lockyer Valley, SE Qld on a small hobby farm. After finishing grade 12 she went to the University of Queensland campus at Gatton to complete an Associate Diploma in farm management specialising in Apiculture (bee keeping). This led Monika to work as a beekeeper and Queen bee rearer for 6 years which saw her travel as far as Quilpie to care for hives there.
Marriage, 3 children and work commitments led to travels as far south as Griffith and Tasmania. However she finally settled in Yeppoon Qld where she worked in a plant nursery. However for the last 7 years Monika worked as a veterinary nurse and veterinary receptionist in Yeppoon where she had the responsibility of running the surgery and puppy pre-school classes while she completed her certificate IV in veterinary nursing.
Over the years Monika has had dogs, pet rats, guinea pigs, chickens, tropical fish, lizards and cared for various injured wildlife.
Becoming “empty nesters’ left to a lifestyle choice of relocating to the beautiful Tablelands where she enjoys walking her dog, gardening, baking, bushwalking and looking after her beehive.
Samantha Prior
Client Care Specialist
Another born and bred Far North Queensland girl (from the Old Kulara Nursery!), Sam is one of our dedicated receptionists within our Atherton clinic. She grew up on a farm at Ravenshoe and has been with the Tableland Veterinary Service team for around five years. Sam has a special interest in all things customer service. She loves to ensure all clients are well looked after and getting the best service possible!
Outside of work, Sam loves to go camping with her family, travelling, spending time swimming, bush walking and heading to the beach!
Melissa Applegate
Veterinary Nurse
Mel is a Veterinary Technologist with over 13 years of experience in animal care. Mel graduated from University of Queensland, Gatton, she has been a valued member of the Tableland Veterinary Service team for nearly five years.
Melissa’s interests extend beyond veterinary science to include creative pursuits like writing poetry, rock climbing, exploring herbal medicine, and even hula hooping.
Born in Atherton, Melissa has been a world traveller since the age of 4. She has lived in Indonesia for 11 years, Peru for 2 years, and Laos for 2 years, with visits to many other countries in between. After 34 years abroad, she has returned to Atherton with her husband, whom she met overseas, and is eager to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead.
Olivia Day
Veterinary Nurse
Olivia joined the Atherton team in the middle of 2023 as a Senior Veterinary Nurse. Originally from a farming background in Cowra, NSW, she has been working with animals for over 20 years, with eight years under her belt as a veterinary nurse as well as many hours of training and honing her skills.
She has a particular interest in small animals but with a particular soft spot for birds, reptiles and all things weird and wonderful! Olivia loves the aspects of surgery with her patients and lives by the mantra that there is nothing better than a smooth anesthetic and successfully managed pain.
Bree-Anna Johnson
Veterinary Nurse (RVN)
Bree is one of our fabulous RVN (Registered Veterinary Nurse) team members who support all your pets throughout the day with their care. Bree has been a part of the Atherton team for almost four years. Originally from Kairi, she is a born and bred Far North Queensland girl! Bree’s interests at work include small animal surgery and medicine, but also has a special interest in large animals that she would like to expand.
Bree’s interests outside of work include adventuring, hanging out with friends and family and riding her horses!
Emma Hole
Veterinary Nurse
Originally from Tolga, Emma is a qualified Certificate 4 nurse within our Atherton clinic. She has been a part of the Tableland Veterinary Service team for around five years. She has a particular interest in small animal surgery and medicine, including the non-routine surgeries that can always pose a challenge! She also enjoys caring for wildlife. Emma also loves to assist our clients and their pets with all of their needs and questions.
Outside of work, Emma enjoys travelling, fitness, and socialising. Although she does not have animals of her own, she often takes her housemates’ dogs out for adventures and visits her parents’ family pets!
Grace McClarty
Veterinary Nurse
Another one of our fantastic Certificate 4 trainee nurses! Located at our Atherton clinic, Grace has been in the veterinary industry for around five years and has a special interest in small animal medicine and surgery. She also enjoys the aspects of customer service! Another Atherton local, she fits right into our team in Atherton!
Outside of work, Grace enjoys Bali holidays (and getting tats there!) as well as pole dancing fitness!
Jemma Davidson
Veterinary Nurse
Jemma joined the Atherton team in early 2022 after returning home to the Tablelands from 10 years of travel and work in various locations within Australia and overseas. Settling into life on the beautiful Atherton Tablelands was made easy as Jemma enjoys the great outdoors, and is either hiking, water skiing or camping on weekends.
Jemma has always had a love of animals, growing up on a farm outside of Malanda with pets varying from silky chickens, guinea pigs, miniature cattle and a goat; and now owning and training her very first dog Mae.
Starting a career in animal care seemed only fitting and whilst working reception she is undertaking vet nurse training.
Sarah Catt
Veterinary Nurse
Sarah grew up on a small Hobby Farm on the North side of Cairns and has always had a passion for animals.
Once finishing school, Sarah headed overseas, where she lived and worked for many years, gaining valuable knowledge as a Groom for an International Eventing Stable. After returning to Australia many years later, she continued to follow her passion, working with the RSPCA in Brisbane, before returning home to Cairns where she now works with North Queensland Veterinary Service.
Sarah is happiest when surrounded by animals and has a menagerie of pets at home.
Viola Reith
Veterinary Nurse
Originally from Germany, Viola grew up in a small village surrounded by many animals ranging from pets to farm animals. This upbringing urged her to begin her career within the veterinary profession. Viola has been working as a nurse for 10 years, four of which have been with the TVS team. Her interest at work includes small animal practice, emergency cases and wildlife.
Outside of work, Viola enjoys taking her dog Yona for adventures, spending time with horses and furthering her knowledge in veterinary nursing, wildlife and animal care.
