Dentistry

Dental disease is one of the most common diseases in cats and dogs. Not only is dental disease painful for your pet, but the increased bacteria in their mouth can be associated with other conditions such as kidney disease, heart disease, and liver disease.

During your pet’s annual health check, your vet will examine your pets teeth for the build up of tartar, plaque or teeth that may be causing issues. From here, your veterinarian can provide you with an estimate for a dental scale and polish as well as extractions if needed.

Almost all Tableland Veterinary Service clinics offer dental cleans and extractions under general anesthesia. Our professional teams of vets and nurses keep your pet comfortable and safe while giving them back a shining smile. Our dental procedures all include radiographs to get a full view of your pets teeth below the gumline to ensure problems are detected early and problem teeth can be removed before causing any harm.

How do I know if my pet has dental disease?

Watch out for:

  • smelly breath
  • drooling or dropping food from their mouth
  • a loss of appetite
  • weight loss

If you notice any of the above signs or to book your pet in for a dental check-up, contact your nearest Tableland Veterinary Service clinic today.
